About This Training
Understanding the culture of a family is critical to the provision of Early Childhood Mental Health services, especially when practitioners and families come from different cultural groups. Culture deeply influences how parents raise their children; yet it is often overlooked, and it can be a barrier to engaging the family. In this presentation, we will explore the Cultural Formulation Interview as a means of better understanding culturally influenced parenting beliefs and practices.
Who should attend? This session is intended for any ECMH practitioner, regardless of model practiced.
Objectives:
- Become familiar with the Cultural Formulation Interview structure.
- Integrate the interview into the psychosocial interview.
- Increase comfort level in exploring cultural issues with parents and families.

Participants will receive an agenda, handouts, and a certificate of attendance.
This event will not be recorded.
